The Raymond Brake

Rather then writing a bunch about The Raymond Brake, I'll just point you to things that have already been written since I don't really have anything to add that hasn't already been said before.

On the Simple Machines website here.
Two reviews here.
On All Music Guide here.

Found this video doing a google search of Raymond Brake. Apparantly, it was a school project.

Here's a track from the out of print split 7" with Rebar on Crunchy Record Stuff A1 - Davliks. I got mine on Ebay.

Here's the A-side of the "New Wave Dream" 7" on Simple Machines A1 - New Wave Dream. Again found this on Ebay. There are a few copies for sale on Gemm, which you can find here.

They also put out a full length on Simple Machines, "Piles Of Dirty Winters". Here's the first track A1 - Phillistine. You can buy a copy from Dischord here.

Andy Cabic is now in Vetiver and has worked with Devendra Banhart.

Very nice blog, too bad I couldn't listen to any of the songs you posted (all the links give me a http 403 error).Maybe you can somehow fix it? Your comments on the bands are interesting, keep this up

nevermind,I found out what the problem was : when you post the link to the mp3 you should delete part of the string (i.e. raymond brake's new wave dream reads as follows: http://download-v5.streamload.com/6bd98eb0-a7ea-4cea-8fcf-428ee9b37ba5/mogwaione/Hosted/New%20Wave%20Dream.mp3 but in order for it to be playable or downloadable, you have to erase the code that's found just before "mogwaione" ). Hopefully this will help. Again, looking forward to your next posts (and by the way, any chance of featuring Rebar,as well? )

I will post the Rebar track soon. I normally don't like to post the entire release and since it's only a 2 song split, that would be the entire release. This is a pretty obscure 7 inch though and it's hard to find. I'm looking to see if I can find anything else by Rebar first. This 1 track is all I have by them.

Woah - thank you so much for posting about Raymond Brake! I'm recreating in iTunes an old mix tape I made and among a ton of other obscure local indie tracks "Davliks" was missing. I was sure this was an impossible find...

I've spent hours (days?) transferring my a lot of obscure/rare 7"s from similar bands in mp3's - let me know if there's anything you're looking for. Thanks again!

Now if I can just find Capsize 7's last release Subgenius/Loggerhead Odyssey...

Email me at mogwaione@yahoo.com, I'd like to see what 7's you have. I have a ton of rips to trade.
